The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct – Fix "Can't Find Valid Video Mode" Error 😺
Hello beautiful people! 👋 Yosh here. If The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct shows "can't find valid video mode" (or similar) when you try to launch it on PC, you're in the right place. A quick compatibility tweak—override high DPI scaling—often fixes it. Nando says MIAU and so do I. 😼
Quick note: This fix only changes how Windows runs the game's .exe (compatibility and DPI). Use it only for a copy you own. You've got this! ✌
Fix "Can't Find Valid Video Mode" – High DPI Override
- Right‑click the game in Steam (or your desktop shortcut) and choose Manage → Browse local files (or Open file location). If you use a shortcut, right‑click it → Open file location.
- In the game folder, find the game's .exe (e.g. the main The Walking Dead executable). Right‑click it → Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab. Click Change high DPI settings.
- Check Override high DPI scaling behavior. Leave "Scaling performed by" as Application (or try System if it still fails). Click OK.
- Back in Properties, click Apply then OK. Launch the game again.
If the error persists, try also checking Run this program in compatibility mode for and picking an older Windows (e.g. Windows 7 or 8), then apply and test again.
