Detroit: Become Human on PC supports Vulkan and DirectX 11. The infamous startup messages — no suitable graphics card found, Vulkan 1.1 required, or invalid graphics device — usually mean outdated drivers, missing Vulkan runtime, wrong GPU selected on a laptop, or corrupted shader cache after a bad update.

Why this error appears

• Outdated GPU drivers — Vulkan 1.1+ ships with current NVIDIA/AMD/Intel packages
• Integrated graphics selected — common on dual-GPU laptops
• Missing Vulkan runtime — removed by cleanup tools or never installed
• Overlay conflict — Discord, GeForce Experience, or RTSS blocking Vulkan init
• Corrupted game files — broken shaders after interrupted verify or mod conflict

Fix 1 – Update GPU drivers (start here)

1. Download the latest driver from your vendor only:

Fix 4 – Verify game files and clear shader cache

3. Delete shader cache in %localappdata%\Quantic Dream\Detroit Become Human only if verify doesn't help — backup the folder first
4. Launch once and let shader compilation finish (10–30+ minutes first run is normal)

Yes. Same PC port, same exe behavior. Update the store launcher and GPU drivers for either version.

Integrated graphics only?
Detroit may launch on low settings but Vulkan errors are common. Update Intel/AMD iGPU drivers, force 720p, or use DX11 after first boot.

Game worked until chapter 2?
Often shader or save corruption — verify files, delete shader cache, update drivers. Don't remove saves without backup.
